The Duncan Family Floats a Sandia Sunset!

Event Date:
Wed, 08/29/2012 - 5:15pm - 9:30pm

Quiet Waters welcomes the Duncan family for a guided sunset tour of the Rio Grande!

Embarking from a sun-dappled stand of old-growth cottonwoods in Algodones, we'll spend approximately two hours floating along the Rio, as the Sandia Mountains undergo the daily color show that gives them their name. Basalt-strewn mesas and other ancient volcanic features dominate the riverbanks for the first few miles, while two small Class I "rapids" will elicit a few grins and giggles.

We'll likely encounter a beaver (or several) as they tend to become active in the early evenings, while the abundant bird life of the middle Rio nearly guarantees sightings of Great Blue Heron, Snowy Egret, an assortment of waterfowl and numerous songbirds. The Sandia's color show should be peaking as we traverse the final mile or so, and our evening will wrap up with a cozy campfire, an assortment of light snacks and the ubiquitous S'mores!

This is a private event, limited to Duncan family members and guests. Please contact Kristi Duncan for additional details.
