Self-Guided Tours - Choose your Adventure!
Choose your adventure - anything from a couple of hours, to the whole day on the water!
From the put in at Algodones, the Rio Grande flows past interesting volcanic topography for a couple of miles, and features two small, Class I rapids. From Coronado Campground to Corrales the river begins to widen and slow, winding through several miles of majestic cottonwood Bosque and flowing past several beautiful homes.
As you proceed through the Corrales Bosque preserve, the river braids into multiple channels, and there is no visible development (you'll rarely even hear traffic!) until the take-out at the Alameda bridge. The upper section of this trip features slightly faster water, while the lower section provides a definite wetlands feel. Birds are plentiful throughout the entire stretch, and there’s always a chance you’ll see beaver, muskrat or coyote along the way.
