Try before you buy!

It's always a great idea to actually paddle any canoe or kayak you are considering before you make an investment. If you'd like to have an opportunity to do so, all of these boats are available for our guided or self-guided tours, or as rentals to take to destinations beyond the Rio Grande here locally. Renting first allows you to “test drive” several different boats, and if you do choose to purchase a boat we'll give you a credit for 50% of your rental costs for up to 10% of the purchase price*.

* Rental Credit Conditions:

  • 50% rental credit will be applied to your purchase for any guided or self-guided tour or canoe or kayak rental. Guided tour rental credits will be calculated at the self-guided tour rate for the same length tour.

  • Example – Rent a kayak for a self guided tour at a cost of $44.00. If you decide to purchase a boat, we'll give you a credit of $22.00 towards your purchase.

Ocean Cabo 16 Tandem SOT Kayak - $625.00

Ocean Kayak originated the sit-on-top kayak, and the Cabo is a great example of tandem sit-on-top kayak design. With three seat wells, the Cabo can be paddled tandem or solo, or tandem with a child in the center seat.

A large front hatch provides more storage capacity than you're likely to need, and can easily accommodate fishing poles and other gear. The two fabric seat backs offer good back support, while the self-bailing design allows the boat to easily shed water. Four scupper plugs are included to help keep the paddler dry.

Jackson All Water 10

Jackson Kayak's All Water is an excellent whitewater/touring hybrid design, intended to perform admirably on a wide range of water, from lakes and calm rivers to Class III+ whitewater. The All Water combines Jackson's proven expertise in an easy-to roll whitewater hull design with the storage capacity to allow for light overnight excursions, while the 10' length and retractable skeg improves glide and tracking on quieter waters.

Jackson's "Sweet Cheeks" inflatable beanbag seat offers a very comfortable ride, and the sealed rear hatch provides storage for your essential gear. If you're looking for one boat that can “do it all”, the All Water is an excellent choice.

Jackson Day Tripper (4 available)

The innovative Day Tripper represents Jackson Kayak's out-of-the-box thinking applied to a recreational kayak design. With a huge open cockpit that provides tremendous carrying capacity, the Day Tripper is a great kayak for the recreational paddler that wants the room to pack a cooler and fishing tackle, or to bring along the kids or their pets, but prefers a kayak to a canoe. (These boats have been very popular with parents on our local tours).

The wide hull delivers excellent stability which makes it ideal as a fishing or photography platform, yet outfitted with an optional spray skirt the Day Tripper can handle light whitewater as well. The Day Tripper has won numerous kayak fishing competitions over the past several years, and Jackson offers various accessories that expand the capabilities of the boat.

We have several Day Trippers available in both 10' and 12' lengths. Identical with the exception of the length, the 10' version has a 300 lb. capacity and is slightly more maneuverable, while the 12' version can handle 400 lbs, and and delivers a touch more glide.

Jackson Day Tripper 10 – 2009 models - $475.00 (2009 MSRP - $699.00)

Jackson Day Tripper 12 – 2008/2009 models - $525.00 (2009 MSRP - $799.00)

Jackson Riviera Sit-on-top (2 available)

Perhaps the most comfortable sit-on-top design in existence, the Riviera is a great recreational kayak for day trips on both lakes and Class I/II rivers. These boats have become our most popular rental offering, as they are stable, quick and maneuverable, and an absolute blast to paddle. Offering an extremely shallow draft, the Riviera can also take fisherman into some remarkably remote locations.

With a 300 lb capacity and three different foot positions molded into the design, the Riviera will accommodate a wide range of paddlers, and no moving parts means minimal maintenance is required. The open deck with bungee cording at the stern provides a place for securing your gear.
