Freedom Fourth Fireworks Float

Join Quiet Waters Paddling for the 3rd Annual Freedom Fourth Fireworks Float!

We'll journey through the Corrales Bosque at sunset, then take in Albuquerque area's most elaborate fireworks display from the serenity of the river adjoining the Corrales Bosque, all while avoiding the crowds and traffic at Balloon Fiesta Park. We'll have an assortment of tasty snacks for the Fireworks show, and finish the adventure with about 45 minutes of paddling through moonlight to the takeout (headlamps provided!).

Special Events Overview

We've earned a reputation over the years for offering unique and innovative paddling outings featuring Albuquerque's spectacular Rio Grande. Our renowned International Balloon Fiesta Paddling Adventures (Float the Fiesta!) are just one example. Special Events: April, 2018

Guided Sunset Floats

The Sandia Mountains are locally famous for their spectacular color display in the light of the setting sun, and there is no perspective in the area that surpasses that offered by the Rio Grande!

We'll determine our route the day of the event, enjoying magnificent views of the Sandia’s as they undergo their daily transformation into the “watermelon mountains”.  We'll be off the water at dusk, then return to our outdoor patio for the after-party (BYOB), where we'll enjoy a cozy campfire, a soak in our hot tub, and an assortment of light snacks, complete with S’mores!

Guided Sunset Floats include:

  • The watercraft rental* and paddle.

  • Passenger Van Shuttle to and from the river.

  • PFD (life vest) and all required safety equipment.

  • A 12 minute safety and instructional video prior to your departure.

  • An interpretive and instructional guide (or guides)

  • On-shore orientation prior to launch, including fundamental hydrology principals and basic paddling instruction

  • Bottled water throughout the tour

  • After-party at our outdoor patio with an assortment of snacks provided

  • Hot Tub available (bring swimwear)

  • Campfire (S'Mores included!)

  • BYOB - Those who wish may bring adult beverages to enjoy at the after-party

Minimum Recommendations for Guided Sunset Float Participants:

  • Be a competent swimmer, comfortable both underwater and swimming in current.

  • Wear your life jacket! New Mexico requires the use of a life jacket at all times when paddling. A PFD provides additional flotation to swim safely in current, as well as core insulation in cooler water conditions.

  • Be reasonably fit. While paddling is not a strenuous activity, participants should have sufficient fitness to walk several hundred yards without assistance. (If walking 100 - 200 yards would be exhausting for you, please discuss with us prior to making a reservation. Choosing a guided raft tour may be more appropriate for you).

Additional Details

  • "Child under 12 floating with an Adult" rate applies to children floating along with one adult in a kayak, solo canoe or SUP, or with two adults in a canoe. (Does not apply to paddle rafts).
